CHAPTER TWO

HE DIDN’T LET go of her hand. In the darkness it was still impossible to read his expression. But his grip tightened, he tugged her closer and she knew. Astonishing as it was, he wanted her.

‘You came back.’ His husky whisper was almost wonderstruck.

‘I didn’t want tonight to be over,’ she confessed.

‘I’m...’ He cupped her face and released a ragged breath. ‘My mind has failed. I just want to kiss you.’

‘Oh.’ She breathed a ragged breath of her own at the sizzling jolt from the touch, intent and that hint of amazement. A beat of delight of her own. ‘Good.’

That sizzling current of electricity hummed higher and louder. She didn’t want to shut it off. She leaned closer, already addicted to the intimate tease of his fingers on the side of her neck. A cascade of sensations shimmered down her body as his touch lit her deepest, darkest places. She wanted this. She wanted more.

His lips hit hers. Finally. It was like coming home and shooting for the moon at the same time—perfect and fierce. That current of energy arced and she closed her eyes at the blinding white brilliance of starburst and pleasure. His mouth was soft and firm, taking and giving, and she opened instantly, leaning, learning, aching. His hands were everywhere, pressing her closer as his kiss deepened. It was not plundering but perfect. The demanding pressure of his body pressed full length against hers heated her so much more than physically and she grabbed him hard. Combustion was so close. She was hot and breathless in seconds. There was only one way this could go.

He tore his lips from hers, barely able to breathe. ‘Come with me.’

‘Yes.’

He didn’t let go of her hand. He walked her along the marina, towards the water. Towards the dark. He stopped at far end of the wooden walkway and she stared at the yacht gleaming in the silvery moonlight.

‘Are you staying on that?’ she asked. ‘Not the hotel?’

His smile flashed. He really was a pirate. ‘That okay or do you get seasick?’

‘Well, we’re not actually going anywhere, are we?’

‘We’re definitely going somewhere,’ he muttered and led her up the gangway. He placed his free hand on a small flat screen, and after a faint whirring sound the door lock clicked.

‘Very high-tech.’ She breathed, paying attention and yet not. She needed to touch him again and it was crazy.

‘It’s not mine,’ he said as the door slid open and he led her inside.

‘I bet you’re an investor,’ she teased.

He turned that stunning smile on her. Peripherally she absorbed the stunning interior of the yacht but, honestly, she couldn’t drag her attention from him.

‘Would you like a drink?’ he offered but completely ignored the sparkling bar behind him. Keeping her hand tightly in his, he stepped into her space and placed his other hand on her waist before she could even think of an answer.

That jolt again. Heart racing, blood zinging, she spread her hand back on his chest, glad that he too seemed as eager as she was for this contact.
